Frequently Asked Questions

Communities of Crocus is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization dedicated to providing supportive housing with onsite wraparound services in a natural environment. It is an answer to the housing and services dilemma that plagues this unique and marginalized population and was created to answer the many lingering questions such as;
"Where will my special needs adult live when I am no longer able to care for them"Â
"Why can't I have my own place"
"Why do I have to live so far from my family"
"Why do I have to live with someone I don't know and don't want to live with"
"Why do I have to move again"
"Why do I have to go places I don't want to go"
"Why aren't there more housing options for adults like me"
Our community is open to everyone, however, is specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities of varied needs.
COC was started by two parents who realized that their children have unique needs that require a more supportive community environment that cannot be obtained through some of the current adult living models. The need for housing for adults with autism and IDD in the State of Wisconsin is significant and COC is one great option.
The COC model is designed to provide supportive homes of choice in an inclusive natural environment where individuals can live as independently as possible. The COC model is driven by 7 guiding principles: Choice, Affordability, Well Being, Community Inclusion, Quality Care, Independence, Sustainability.
