Home Within a Home

CARE Homes

CARE at Crocus’s model is a “Home Within a Home” with 24/7 support for the residents. Residents will each have their own one bedroom apartment with access to a common living area, teaching kitchen, laundry, and sensory room. A front porch, individual outdoor spaces, and a shared back patio provide both individual and group gathering spaces.

The exterior displays some neutral colors on vertical siding, a stone base, and wood columns and exterior doors to add warmth. The multiple roof pitches and dormers on either end of the home help scale back the overall size and keep an overall residential feel. While residents each have their own French doors leading to a private patio, the front door still stands out underneath the large overhang with side light, making it feel like one single entity.

The Care Homes will be designed for people with high support needs. They will house four residents in an apartment style setting with 24/7 care and common areas and amenities in house. Each resident will have their own bedroom, bathroom, a small fenced in porch, and a kitchen. Shared spaces include a large, covered front porch, an open floor plan kitchen and living space, connected to a large, covered outdoor patio, a sensory room, a large laundry room, and an entryway with shared storage.

The open floor plan not only encourages residents to interact with each other, but is inviting for family members to visit. We envision them sitting at the dining table or island together, watching a movie, or looking outside. The interior is pictured as light, airy, and cozy with warm color tones and soft furniture complimenting the modern aesthetic. There is ample space for caregivers to give a sense of independence while overseeing tasks.

The front elevation features a unit with french doors to a small porch on either side of the main entry to the living area, marked by an additional pitch and large covered porch.

The side elevation features a dormer with clear story windows into the calming space and smaller windows to residents bedrooms and bathrooms.

The back elevation features the third and fourth units on either side of the office, nurse station and hall with storage leading to the large, covered back patio.
